Carina is now in 2nd grade. She completed all of the curriculum in her swimming lessons, so she has joined pre-swim classes in preparation for swim team. During the summer, she attended wizard camp in Maine, Camp Grossman in Boston, and survival camp in Vermont. Recently, she got her advanced blue belt in karate.
Vela finished toddler school in the beginning of the year and is now attending an outdoor pre-school. In preschool, she met another kid with a name similar to her, "Bella", and now, they are best friends. Vela is progressing consistently in her swimming lessons, so she can float on her own and is now more confident in the water. She also started taking gymnastics classes.
In the beginning of 2024, Carina and Vela were in a play in Filipino school called "Kalipay and Gamay". The play is based on the book "Kalipay and the Tiniest Tiktik" by Christina Newhard. Carina played "Mark" and Vela played one of the "Salt" dancers.

In May, we celebrated Grandma Diane's 80th birthday early by going to Disney World. Carina and Vela met their favorite Disney characters, Mulan and Elsa, respectively, and got to dress as them during their Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique sessions. Carina and Vela enjoyed the Teacup and Dumbo rides. Carina said her favorite rides were Thunder Mountain and Tron.
In October, we attended a wedding in the Los Angeles area and just had to make a stop at Disneyland. There were a lot of teacup rides and Dumbo rides again, but they got to experience some rides with new themes like Cars, Spider-Man, and Star Wars.

For Halloween, we were dressed as our favorite Disney (or Disney-adjacent) characters. Vela was Elsa (of course), Carina was Stitch, Beth was Darth Vader, and Ian was Spider-Man. In an attempt to tie our costumes together, we decided that we would all be riding unicorns.
